Martin Lopez is a Swedish-Uruguayan musician known for his drumming skills in various progressive metal bands. He was born on May 20, 1978, in Montevideo, Uruguay, and later moved to Sweden with his family. Lopez is best known for his work as the former drummer of the bands Opeth and Amon Amarth.
Lopez joined Opeth in 1997 and played on the albums "My Arms, Your Hearse," "Still Life," "Blackwater Park," and "Deliverance." He left the band in 2005 due to health reasons and went on to join Amon Amarth in 2011, contributing to the albums "Deceiver of the Gods" and "Jomsviking."
In addition to his work with Opeth and Amon Amarth, Lopez has also been involved in various other musical projects, including Soen, Fifth to Infinity, and Ephel Duath. He is widely regarded as a talented and innovative drummer in the progressive metal genre.
